JLR to cut thousands of jobs
It was posted up here awhile back that JLR would be sending home hundreds of workers in various facilities over the holidays do to lower production numbers. It now seems like the automaker will be cutting upwards of 5,000 employees in the UK as they attempt to implement a new savings plan. https://www.ft.com/content/c4f06f8e-...f-99e208d3e521

Unfortunate news but we live in changing times when systems these big companies use are becoming more efficient, at a pace regular humans can't keep up with.

Still less than what we are seeing with GM, and proof that they aren't the only automaker who is struggling to maintain profitability. The smart play here would be bigger investments into electrification and autonomous tech.

Tata has a lot of money and where they spend should be on the look out, buying another brand could be a good move.

Some publications were suggesting that Tata was considering dropping JLR, but its been confirmed that's not the case. They do need to overhaul their lineup and make some adjustments to equipment packages.

Jaguar can be revived in the same way Lexus was, now Lexus sits with the best of them.

With the success that the I-Pace is seeing, its a no brainer which direction JLR needs to go in. It's easily the best new EV that launched this year, outperforming the Model X in many different tests.

With the pricing we are seeing on newer Jag models like the XF Sportbrake, I have some concerns over what a hybrid would entail. The last thing they need is more expensive variants.
