$10k for a checkered flag badge?

Jaguar will be introducing a new limited edition trim for the F Type and XF, dubbed the Checkered Flag. It comes with some exclusive furnishings like embroidered headrests, branded door sills, special floor mats and a refinished center console. Seems like this was done as a cash grab to try and boost their profit margins amidst slowing sales. Jaguar Wants You to Pay a $10k Premium for an F-Type With New Checkered Flag Badges - The Drive

F-Types have been in major demand and that creates a segment of buyers that want to stand out to the point they're willing to pay for subtle yet significant upgrades like this.

That used to be true, but sales for the F Type are only half of what they were back in 2017. Jag has also said that they are discontinuing the manual gearbox, because no one is buying it. 4% were bought with a stick shift.

Manuals have been on their way out for years now and slimming down on options can help to protect JLR's bottom line. There is no arguing that its a great looking sports car, but the F Type doesn't quite live up to the performance found in rivals.

safe to say since the 80's people have started to realize how inefficient manuals were, just look at what most top 1320 drag cars had switching gears

DCT's have far better performance results anyways, so that transition was inevitable. Its odd that Jaguar hasn't moved beyond traditional automatic gearboxes for their performance coupe.

I like how Koniegsegg runs their cars without transmissions which could very well be the way of the future.
However it seems that many transmission contracts have been renewed possibly only leaving that innovation where it was brought to light, with Koniegsegg

Since they are considering electric and hybrid powertrains, the transition away from standard automatics is only a matter of time. The Lexus LC fares just fine with its 10spd.

I was surprised to discover that as well and even more impressive is the fact the LC is a pig. It sure makes you wonder how much better these get in higher performing models.
Apparently Lexus has big plans for the LC's performance.

Lexus claims the LC500h can get 35mpg on the highway, which is really impressive imo. Your expectations needs to be realistic when buying a 470hp sports car.
